Solo-weekend-parenting led me and Luke to hit three different park today, the Starbucks across the street from major construction (excavators, diggers, flat bed trucks), along with indoor swimming, visiting with several other very nice solo parents on the playgrounds, and partaking in some serious playing with trains and hot wheel cars before bed. We lined up all of Luke's cars along the rug - came to 8 feet of hot wheels - that's quite an investment. I'm starting to wonder if the new baby really should be a boy - I think I only know how to play with cars, trucks, trains and boy stuff. Though I know I could get into the girlie clothes in a nano-second, not to mention I need an heir to my shoe collection! And who knows, she might pick trains over barbie on her own. I can only hope given my lack of love for that unrealistic figure she sports.
Luke (and I) are very excited about Dan's return tomorrow from the 3 feet of Utah powder! He's been quite the polite little man this week - I can't get over the sporadic "thank you, mommy" and "okay!" and he even ate celery tonight. Maybe I should sneak away for girls weekends more often!

You could end up with a little girl like mine that puts her cars and trains inside her purse, so she can carry them with her everywhere.
ReplyDeletewhich starbucks was it??
ReplyDeleteisaac's started paying rent at Buzz...
Colleen - I love that McKenna puts her cars and trains in her purse! I will have her influence the new baby if she is a girl.
ReplyDeleteAllison - Starbucks on Patrick/Pendelton (I think) - they just bulldozed an old warehouse and are building retail and residential. Right by the post office. Luke could gaze for hours. And given that we bumped into you at Buzz this AM, Luke is definitely on tap to bunk up with Isaac to split the rent.
