Happy Birthday to our sweet Sadie Jane!

Wow did a year fly by, we can't believe Sadie Jane has been in our lives for 365 days - what a beautiful gift she is to us! I wanted to throw her a "You've Come A Long Way Baby" Party, until a friend reminded me that is the Virginia Slims tag line. Perhaps not the exact message I was going for, so we shifted a little and threw her a "Yeah, You're Not Crying!" Party. Or at least that was the milestone I was celebrating.

She sure doesn't cry anymore! Except for normal little things like when her brother runs at lightning McQueen speed and tackles her. Though usually she just gets right up and laughs it off. They are quite the pair these days, they both light up when they see each other - she kicks her legs and gets this huge impish grin, and he looks like he's about to burst. I love watching the interaction, especially as Sadie has gotten more mobile.

She is as happy as a clam, busy, getting into everything, an observer but not afraid to face plant off the couch, eats anything, donut legs (I can say it, they were mine once!), she loves giving kisses, playing with monster trucks, cars, and trains, loves her daddy, thinks her brother is the coolest thing in the entire world, and she's my little co-pilot.

We threw a little soiree together for our big girl, with the contribution of wonderful friends (our incredibly talented Aunt Jodi made the fabulous ruffle cake!),

Pre Cake-Dive

Thank you, pinterest, for the big balloon idea - I can't get enough of these, she looks like she will just fly up, up and away!

Want some cake? My wonderful friend Allison captures moments so effortlessly, this is my favorite.

Happy Birthday to you! Look how strong her big brother is, he used to cry anytime anyone belted out happy birthday.

The taste test begins! Thumbs up!

My attempt at putting the sweetest little hat (www.gaddieandtood.com) on her failed time after time, but it sure is cute for this nanosecond!

Found this little ONE banner on etsy - I love buying something sweet and unique from a crafty mom on the other coast.

She stared at us the whole song, it was so cute.

The gang x 4.

Luke was a big helper in scooping dirt into the party favors, a little idea that came from one of our favorite little friends, who one afternoon planted a few extra flowers I had out back into sand pails from the sand box. What a clever idea from one imaginative 3 year old - thank you CTG!

Allison captured this picture nearing the end of the festivities - Sadie had crawled her way next to the recycled beer bottles and decided no time like the present for her first beer. Our families will all be excited that she is prime Wisconsin Badger material.

She stayed in Lynn's cute little chevron bag for about 1.2 seconds - enough time to snap this pix!

After I told Luke whatever he wore would probably get cake from Sadie on it, he still wanted to wear his (second) favorite monster truck shirt (his first is "still in the laundry" as it is getting so small it nearly pops up over his belly) to celebrate Sadie's big day - that might be the best compliment a brother could give!

We love our sweet Sadie and look forward to celebrating a zillion more birthdays for her!
