Luke was a most fortunate beneficiary of his friend Emelina's parents' visit to the Preakness today. Ema spent the day with us and we couldn't have imagined a more lovely guest. She is an absolute gem.... says night, night and goes to sleep (what?!), is a terrific eater (esp. avocado), and has taught me more Spanish in one day than my whole life (uva=grapes, zapato= shoes, mas=more, hambre=hungry).
We doubled up our park visits to both George Mason and the Pit - where we ran into the Miller boys and Ms. Cardin, respectively. Loads of sandbox playtime (and Luke saying "sandbox" - he has all of a sudden, out of nowhere, turned into a chatterbox, to which I attribute Elizabeth Cullen Grace's cameo appearance last weekend). Gorgeous weather and a sweet playmate for Luke made for a wonderful day for us Roehls. Hope all y'all's (a word?) were just as grand!
P.S. Does Luke need a haircut? I'm thinking it's starting to look like a bowl (aka my brother, sister, and me 1985)...
Thank you again for playing with Ema so her parents could pretend they were back in their 20s! She's still talking about Luke, Shiloh and Dan (or "ese" when his name momentarily escapes her). She had a wonderful day and we hope to return the favor very soon!
