Ok, so I'm not a poet. But I do love a good party. Especially when it's my baby's first birthday!!
What fun we had.... Grandma and Grandpa Roehl came to town - they were such a big help and we were so lucky to have them here to celebrate!
Luke was pretty excited to receive a few over-the-phone renditions of "Happy Birthday" from Grandpa Jimbo and Paula (in between triathlons at the Senior Olympics in California... Dad, next time do us a favor and lip sync, ha ha), Auntie Lis and Uncle Matt, Uncle Josh, and Uncle Mike, Aunt Coco, Gavin, Clay, Sophie and Cole. We wish you all were here! He also opened up some very nice birthday cards from his two great-grandmas - Honey and Clarice - both a very hip and cool 90 plus!
Here's the birthday boy with his Badger hat on... clothes are never necessary in the morning when you're one.
Belle and Katie helped us bake our goodies... Luke and Belle shared a moment between glass doors.
Grandma with beautiful sunflowers...
Luke and his round buddy the watermelon....
Hello 4:00 - let the party begin!!! Luke welcomed his friends with a dip in the pool.
The scene... inspiration from Tori and Dean Home Sweet Hollywood. Ok, not really, but I had to put a plug in for my favorite party-throwing 90210 star mama. If you haven't watched, you'll think I'm crazy. If you have, you'll be nodding your head. She is genius. And a very cool mom. Tuesdays, 10pm EST, Oxygen Channel.
Back to the party....
CAKE TIME! We baked the cupcake (thank you Grandma, Grandpa and Katie - it took a village) and Tracy/Nicole (for facilitating the borrowing of the cake mold) and Luke went to town....
Phase 1 (7 minutes)
Phase 2 (undetermined)... 1/3 in belly, 1/3 in lap, 1/3 in ear/floor/plate, etc.
A bite for Grandpa?
Pre clean-up in the rain with mom and dad...
xo

Great party! Barrett was jealous, as she'll never get anything that cool in February.
ReplyDeleteIt was a wonderful party and so much fun. Happy Birthday Luke!:) Welcome to toddlerhood (is that a word?).
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love it all, dags! Excellent job with the pics, the birth/one year contrast was my favorite part, I think. He is a total pork chop. Please visit us soon!
