Tea and Mojitos... not a bad Sunday

This afternoon some friends met up to enjoy tea at the marvelous Willard Hotel downtown. It was lovely.

... but tea wouldn't be complete without a half past five p.m. nightcap of mojito fun. We wandered next door to the new W hotel rooftop... our fearless leader Katie stepped up to the rope line and informed the slickly clad bouncer (female, tiny, we could have toppled her if we wanted to) that no, we did not have a reservation, but that we'd enjoy visiting the bar and to please take us upstairs. Moments later we found ourselves sipping tasty drinks next to the White House in DC's hottest new joint. No mom jeans here.

Check out the new W (former Hotel Washington) - the lobby is spectacular. Very hollywood glam (animal print, glossy red leather couches, beautiful molding detail on the walls painted white, preserved from the original building).
