And, we resisted temptation...

Luke accompanied me for the baby's sonogram today to keep me in line with the plan to be surprised, as Dan was traveling in North Carolina. He distracted me with his babble about cars, taking his sock and shoe off, and singing Frere Jaques (replacing the French words for some of his very own randomness), so much so that I didn't find myself too terribly tempted! Admittedly I was quite tempted prior to walking into the doctor's office, devising a plan as to how to tell Dan when he got home that I caved and found out.

The technician thinks that older siblings have a sixth sense about gender, if she's right (and Luke's right) we'll be in the hole this summer from redecorating the baby's room after she is born. And if the baby is a he, then Luke joins his mom at being a terrible guesser!

I went back to the little journal I kept when I was pregnant with Luke, and found a sonogram photo at about this stage, and a note that said we felt Luke first kick at 19 weeks. Same with this baby. Hard to believe that little sono photo became Luke, and that this one will become another little person. A miracle, a gift, indeed.

  1. So happy for you! Way to stay strong. I don't think I could resist the urge to know.
